|-Letter From the Editor
Greetings Worldwide Readers, welcome to the fourth issue of Worldwide. Some of you might not be very happy this month, as this issue is very short. Hopefully though I'll be able to redeem myself next month when I unveil the all new Worldwide! This newly designed issue will include many of the suggestions that you, the reader, sent me. So be sure and watch for the all new Worldwide, coming in October!
Until next month,
Brad Ayres

Honey I Shrunk the Audience
To Worldwide Readers,
Greetings to you all. This is Dr. Nigel Channing, head of the world renowned Imagination
Institute. I'm writing this to invite you all to a special presentation being held at Epcot 95'. The institute, normally off limits to the public, is currently open to all for the annual inventor of the year award. This years award goes to professor Wayne Szalinski, for his remarkable success with his incredible shrinking and enlarging machine. During the presentation, professor Szalinski will demonstrate this device, along with others built right inside the institute. The ceremony will showcase the following: a demonstration of the professor's dimensional duplicator, a demonstration of his holographic pet projector, and finally, a demonstration of his new, more powerful, shrinking machine. All followed up by the presentation of the award itself. The professor also mentioned showing off his new hover vehicle, but we are not sure if he's worked out all of the bugs yet. The professor's family will also be attending this gala event. His lovely wife Diane, as well as his two sons Nick and Adam, will be on hand to assist the professor in case there are any mishaps. The Disney people have erected a sign outside the institute that says "Honey I Shrunk the Audience." Undoubtedly just a little joke towards the professor referring to his previous efforts to run his shrinking machine. We, of course, have every faith in the professor, but are still supplying every audience member with protective safety goggles just in case. Aside from all that though, we intend to have a wonderful presentation, please feel free to join us. It will definitely be a most memorable experience.
Fondest Regards,
Dr. Nigel Channing

IV-Restaurant of the Month
50's Prime Time Cafe
You're at the Disney MGM Studios. It's lunch time. You're out looking for a good home cooked meal like mom used to make. What do you do? There's only one answer of course....go to the 50s Prime Time Cafe. This wonderful little restaurant has everything you could think of to whisk you back to the rocking 1950s. There are televisions all around showing different 1950s sitcoms. They have those old Formica tables. Even the waitresses are all referred to as Mom. As for the food, it's good old American quisine. Hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni & cheese, all those great dishes mom used to make. And you'd better clean your plate, or mother will have to punish you. By the way, that wasn't a joke! So, if you're looking for some good food and a good atmosphere, the 50s Prime Time Cafe is the choice for both.
V-Here & There
Well here's the last month of the Hidden Mickeys. This month features, yep, you guessed it, MGM's Hidden Mickeys. Now, for all of you who can't get enough Hidden Mickeys, try going to this World Wide Web site. "http://iu.net/tshaw/trs/HiddenMickey.html" It contains the most complete list of Hidden Mickey's I've seen. Enjoy.
BACKLOT
(New York Street)
-> On the backlot street that has the locksmith sign hanging from a building you will find this
one. Go into the middle of the street so that the locksmith sign is on your right.
Now walk backwards until the street ends. Now on the curb, BEFORE the
locksmith sign, and BEFORE the first lamp post, you will see Mickey's head
chipped into the curb. It is quite large and you cant miss it. (We took
a picture of it...)
MAIN PLAZA
-> It is built in the shape of Mickey's head, with Echo lake making one
ear and the planters forming his nose and mouth. Ask any cast member
or just turn your guide map upside down.
MAIN STREET
-> A real tricky one, while sitting in the Hollywood and Vine restaurant,
near the mural, I looked at Mick and Bill's Dockside Diner. The 2 black
disks on the "anchor" line look like a side view Mick.
-> In the display window just to the right of the Hollywood Blvd entrance to
Keystone Clothiers at the Disney/MGM Studios is an old camera. The main
lens and two smaller round lens-like things make a Mickey.
-> There are lots of Mickey heads on the fence at the D-MGM gates.
-> In front of the Chinese Theater, where the stars have signed the names and
left there impressions, over on the left hand side you'll find Harry
Anderson's square. There's an outline of a tie, and on the tie is a
traditional tri-circle Hidden Mickey.
STAR TOURS
-> Look for Mickey in one of the baskets marked 'KMS 81850' circulating
through the maintenance area in the shape of 3 laser disks.
-> Also reported is Mickey as a cookie cutter in the bin labeled
'PAD 61257' in front of one of the worker drones.
The other "PAD" basket should be easy to find: it is directly after
the "non-basket" - the only thing hanging and circulating which is NOT
a basket (it looks like a car's brake drum).
-> When exiting down the corridor, there are six posters featuring
M&M's (the sponsor of ST). There was reported a HM in each of the
posters.
SCI-FI THEATER
-> I work there and there are couple of hidden Mickeys. There is some
trees painted in the back of the theater, and the leaves in one make
out the image of MM... And some of the constellations resemble MM as
well. I also believe that the tag numbers on the cars are high up
executive's initials and birth dates. And at the back of the theater
where the popcorn machine is, there is tile on the wall.. And there
is someone's initials in the tile. Probably the person who did the tile.
Muppet Vision
-> Outside the Muppet Vision theater at D-MGM is a fountain featuring the
muppet characters. Gonzo is balancing on an inflatable toy who's head
looks just like Mickey, except the eyes are bulging a bit (but so would
yours if Gonzo had his left foot in your back!).
GREAT MOVIE RIDE - Mickey is everywhere (an Imagineer's dream).
->There is a Mickey in the Hollywood set on the load dock
-> As the vehicles enter Gangsterland, Mickey's feet can be seen peeking
out from under the 'Public Enemy' poster.
-> As you enter the Gangster scene, and approach the run down porch,
looking over your left shoulder towards the roof you will see
Mickey's silhouette in a warehouse window.
-> Further on in the Movie Ride you can find Mickey in the hieroglyphics
of the Raiders of the Lost Ark scene..(last block on the left) having
lunch with Donald Duck.. Interestingly, ALSO in the hieroglyphics,
directly across from Indiana Jones, you can find C-3PO and R2-D2 carved
in stone. There is also a very small hieroglyphic painted with Mickey
Mouse ears, but it is not visible from the ride.
-> In Tarzan, if you look up into the trees on the right side to
Tarzan's tree house, you will see three grapes in a basket with a
spotlight on them. Yet another hidden Mickey.
-> I found what MAY be a Mickey on the loading dock. His face is in profile
(side view) in the SHADOWS on the mural of "HOLLYWOODLAND". It is all
the way over at the left side (when facing the mural), at the edge where
the "mountain" sticks out from the wall. It is only visible when a
particular set of lights is on: just before the actual ride starts and
just after it ends. It is NOT visible during loading since the lighting
changes then. The Mickey is a real shadow - not a shadow which has been
painted on. It was clear enough for my daughter to agree with - but I
wouldn't be really upset if someone else said it was too weak to count.
LITTLE MERMAID
-> Just before Sebastian comes on stage, the lasers converge above the stage.
In the center, just before the lasers turn off, there's the distinctive
three circle pattern of a Hidden Mickey.
VI-Monthly Trivia
Good job to all who tried. July's question was:
<<What company sponsors Space Mountain?>>
The correct answer was:
Federal Express
and the winners with the correct answers were:
PLMarble, LCH300, JJJA, RAHUMPHREY
now <September's Question>
(E-mail all answers to Disnymania)
This one might be a little bit tricky...On Main Street USA there are windows above many of the buildings with the names of people who helped build the park on them, even Walt Disney has his own window. The question is, where is Walt Disney's window located? Good Luck.
VII-Next Month
Well here we are, at the end of another issue of Worldwide. What, you may ask, is coming up next month? That has yet to be seen, just be sure and watch for the all new Worldwide, coming in October. If you have any last minute suggestions for the next issue, E-mail Disnymania and I'll see what I can do.
